Special Programs visiting the Boston Aquarium!

For grades K-8

Westford Recreation provides support for parents and children with full-day and full-week special programs during Westford Public School’s parent conferences, professional development days, and December, February and April school vacations. Special program events are educational, inspiring, and fun, and include a variety of locations and activities from Maple Sugaring at Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary, to visiting Harvard's Museum of Natural History and the APEX Entertainment Center in Marlborough.

Enrollment is open to children, grades K-8. Children from Westford's surrounding communities are welcome to join in!  Details, including fees, can be found online three weeks prior to the event date. Scroll down to register.

Tuesday April 21, 2026- Franklin Park Zoo
  • Tap into the WILDSIDE and join us for a trip to see the animals at the Franklin Park Zoo!
  • Drop off: Abbot Elementary School 25 Depot street Westford
  • Pick: Westford Recreation Program room 65 Main Street 3rd Floor
  • What to bring: Please pack *lunch, snacks and beverages.
  • *The Giddy-up Grill located inside the Franklin Park Zoo has a selection of sandwiches, wraps, pizza, and many other kid friendly options. So you are welcome to pack your child money to purchase lunch as well, but not recommended as lines are long and we want to be sure they have time to eat lunch.
  • Please have your child dress for the weather and good walking shoes.
  • Extra spending money is optional for the gift shop! $15-$25 is recommended
  • For all April Vacation Trips, please make sure to pack weather appropriate outerwear. We will have opportunities to play on the playground and blacktop when we return.
  • As a reminder, all special programs are 9am-3pm with options for Early Arrival and Extended Day.

Wednesday April 22, 2026 - Animal Adventures
  • ANIMAL ADVENTURES from Bolton is coming to visit us! Meet the animals, hear interesting stories and information about them and get close. Controlled petting and touching is allowed at the discretion of the Zookeeper. Eight to ten animals presented and could include: Alligator, Snake, Chinchilla, Ferret, Hedgehog, Rats, Bunnies, different kinds of reptiles and lizards such as: Geckos, Bearded Dragons, Tegus, Spiny Tailed Lizards, Blue Tongue Skink, and more. We also include amphibians like turtles, tortoises and frogs. Tarantulas are available upon request for viewing only.
  • Drop off/Pick: Abbot Elementary School 25 Depot Street
  • PIZZA LUNCH INCLUDED!
  • What to bring: Please send your child with lunch(if your child does not like Pizza), snacks, beverages.
  • What to wear: Weather appropriate outerwear/footwear.
  • For all February Vacation Trips, please make sure to pack weather appropriate outerwear. We will have opportunities to play on the playground and blacktop through out the day.

  • Thursday April 23, 2026 Westford Recreation will be offering a Full Day Program with SNL Sports Academy Pokémon Battle day
  • Drop off/Pick Up: Abbot School - 25 Depot Street, Westford
  • What to bring: Lunch, Snacks, refillable water bottle
  • Pokémon cards encouraged: ALL trading will be supervised by the SNL staff to learn "fair trading"
  • If you would prefer your child not trade cards please alert the staff upon arrival.
  • SNL will bring some cards if your child has none.
  • What to wear: Sneakers, comfortable clothing for gym games.
  • Proper outdoor attire required to play outside.

  • Pick Up: Recreation Department 65 Main Street 3rd floor (or out back behind the building look for signage)
  • CHEESE PIZZA LUNCH INCLUDED!
  • What to bring: Snacks, refillable water bottle
  • *Spending money is optional for the gift shop if time permits*
  • What to wear: Comfortable clothing for walking around inside and outside the museum.
  • Proper outdoor attire recommended for before and after we visit the museum to play outdoors.
